When People Use Residential Storage
Moving to a New Home
Your closing is next month but you need to move out now. Or you're selling your house and buying another one, with a gap in between. Storage holds your furniture and boxes while you figure out the timing.
Downsizing
You're moving from a 3-bedroom house to a 2-bedroom apartment. You like the furniture and don't want to sell it. Storage keeps it available if you change your mind or move to a larger place later.
Home Renovation
Contractors are coming next week and your bedroom needs to be empty. Rent a unit, move furniture out, get your renovation done, move it back in.
Inherited Furniture
You inherited a bedroom set, dining table, and boxes of items. You're not ready to deal with it yet. Storage gives you time to decide what to keep.
Seasonal Items Overflow
Holiday decorations, off-season clothes, sports equipment. It piles up and takes over your closets and garage. A storage unit keeps it organized and off your property.
Extra Stuff That Doesn't Fit
You have a couch from your old apartment, an extra dresser, boxes of books. Your house is full. Storage solves the problem without buying a bigger house.
Unit Sizes and What Fits
10' x 10' ($110/month)
One bedroom's worth of furniture. A bed, dresser, nightstands, boxes from a studio or small 1-bedroom apartment.
10' x 15' ($120/month)
Bedroom furniture plus living room items. A bedroom set, couch, dining table, boxes. Fits contents of a 1-bedroom apartment.
10' x 20' ($130/month)
Bedroom furniture, living room furniture, some kitchen items. Fits contents of a small house or large apartment.
10' x 25' ($150/month)
Everything from a 2–3 bedroom home. Multiple bedroom sets, couches, dining furniture, appliances, boxes. Basically a whole house.
All units have drive-up access so you load directly at the door. Roll-up doors. Pest control. Video surveillance.
How to Pack Your Unit
- Use boxes, not bags. Bags fall apart. Boxes stack and hold shape.
- Label everything. Write what's inside on the side of the box. Saves time when you need to find something months later.
- Stack heavy on bottom, light on top. Don't put a box of books on top of a lamp.
- Leave an aisle. Don't pack floor to ceiling. You need to walk in and retrieve items.
- Cover furniture with blankets. Keeps off dust. Don't use plastic—it traps moisture.
- Take apart big furniture. Disassemble the bed frame, table, shelves. Keep the bolts and hardware in a labeled bag taped to one of the pieces.
- Keep a list. Write down what's in storage and where. Or take photos of labeled boxes before you close the door.
What You Can't Store
No food (includes canned goods, dry food, anything edible). No animals. No hazardous materials or weapons. No illegal items.
